Categories: General News

We’re excited to share that UNC Charlotte Junior, Jalen London, has been chosen for the prestigious Amgen Scholars program. This summer, Jalen will continue his research at Harvard University, building on his work from last summer under the mentorship of Professor Suzanne Walker. London said his love for biochemical research began his freshman year at Charlotte, working in Professor Kirill Afonin’s lab to elucidate possible therapeutic roles of nucleic acid nanoparticles.

As an Amgen Scholar, Jalen will participate in professional development sessions, mentorship workshops, and social events, culminating in a final oral presentation at the Amgen Scholars Symposium at UCLA.

The Amgen Scholars program, supported by the Amgen Foundation, provides selected undergraduate students worldwide with opportunities for hands-on research at premier institutions across the globe.

Jalen’s selection highlights both his academic excellence and UNC Charlotte’s commitment to fostering the next generation of scientific leaders.

Congratulations, Jalen, on this outstanding achievement!
