Dr. Jyotsana Parajuli Receives Two Research Grants to Advance Palliative Care
The School of Nursing congratulates Jyotsana Parajuli, PhD, MSG, RN, on securing two research grants, marking a major advancement in her work to enhance palliative care for older adults with cancer.
The first of these is the R15 Grant from the National Institute of Aging (NIA). With this support, Dr. Parajuli will develop and validate a palliative care readiness tool designed specifically for older adults with cancer. This tool aims to ensure that healthcare providers are better prepared to meet the unique needs of this vulnerable population, ultimately improving the quality of care they receive.
Dr. Parajuli has also been awarded the Sigma/Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation End of Life Nursing Care Research Grant. This project will focus on creating a similar tool, but this time for family caregivers of older adults with cancer. Recognizing how crucial family caregivers are in the end-of-life care process, this research will provide them with the resources they need to offer effective and compassionate care to their loved ones.
Again, congratulations to one of our outstanding faculty member, Dr. Parajuli! Please visit News and Events updates on her projects and the incredible work being done here at UNC Charlotte’s School of Nursing.
