The UNC Charlotte School of Nursing would like to highlight one of our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students, Diane Holmes, MSN, FNP-BC, CHFN, on the successful defense of her DNP project, “Improving Clinician Self-Efficacy When Caring for the Cardio-Obstetric Patient Admitted to the Hospital,” on Monday, March 24, 2025.

In addition to this milestone, Holmes’ project abstract has been accepted for a poster presentation at the 9th International Congress on Cardiac Problems in Pregnancy (CPP) in Vienna, Austria, from April 24–27, 2025. This conference gathers experts from around the world to discuss advancements in the field of cardiovascular health in pregnancy. For this project, Holmes collaborated with co-authors William Saunders, PhD, MPH; Esther Kim, MD, MPH, FACC; and faculty member Laura Magennis, DNP, RN, RNC-OB, NPD-BC to develop this impactful research.

We celebrate Holmes’ achievements and look forward to her continued contributions to nursing practice and research on a global stage as her work continues to improve clinician preparedness and enhance patient outcome in cardio-obstetrics.
