Celebrating Healthcare Simulation Week 2025

Categories: General News

At UNC Charlotte’s School of Nursing, simulation is more than just technology, its a strategy. It allows students to engage in experiential learning, strengthen their use of technology, focus on outcomes over process, and integrate evidence-based strategies throughout the curriculum.

As the Learning Resource Center (LRC) team continues to advance student learning, their work reflects both industry standards and ongoing innovation. This week, the School of Nursing joins institutions worldwide in recognizing Healthcare Simulation Week 2025, observed September 15-19.

Established in 2017 by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), this global event celebrates the impact of simulation in advancing healthcare education and delivery. “Each year, simulation facilities in more than 25 countries across six continents participate, showcasing how simulation prepares the next generation of healthcare professionals.

The 2025 theme, United Through Simulation, underscores the collective effort of the simulation teams who bring these valuable learning experiences to life. To honor their contributions, the LRC team is hosting a special gift bag giveaway for all simulation facilitators, educators, technicians, and actors.

At Charlotte, we are fortunate to have Melinda Pierce, Coordinator of Simulation and Interdisciplinary Practice, Ashton Atmore, Simulation Operations Manager, and Danny Etim, Simulation Technician. Their commitment and expertise make simulation possible and ensure that our students receive meaningful, high-quality learning experiences that prepare them for clinical excellence.

We also recognize the contributions of our Certified Healthcare Simulation Educators (CHSEs): Dr. Leslie Beth Sossoman, Dr. Amy Winiger, Emily Gullena, Melinda Pierce, and Kristine Cookson.

Healthcare Simulation Week is a reminder of the essential role simulation plays in training, collaboration, and innovation across the healthcare field, and the LRC team is proud to contribute to this global movement.
