In Memory of Dr. Kathleen Jordan: A Dedicated Educator, Clinician and Champion for Children

The UNC Charlotte School of Nursing community is mourning the loss of Clinical Professor Dr. Kathleen Jordan, who passed away on Dec. 31, 2025.

A nationally recognized leader in pediatric emergency and advanced practice nursing, Dr. Jordan joined UNC Charlotte in 2014 and dedicated her career to advocacy, scholarship, and clinical practice centered on child maltreatment and protecting vulnerable youth. In addition to her faculty leadership, she actively served as an emergency and trauma nurse practitioner, effortlessly bridging bedside care with classroom instruction.

“Dr. Jordan exemplified what it means to be both a clinician and an educator,” shared Susan McLennon, then-director of the School of Nursing. “She was a respected leader, a devoted mentor and a champion for children and families.”
