Philwyna Banks-Ledbetter, DNP, AGACNP-C, MSN, RN
Philwyna S. Banks-Ledbetter, DNP, AGACNP-C, MSN, RN, OCN, is an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner with a profound commitment to oncology and geriatric care. She serves as a lecturer in the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Philwyna’s expertise is particularly deep in hematology oncology, stemming from her tenure at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital’s Myeloma and Plasma Cell Disorder Clinic and Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute Bone Marrow Transplant unit.
Philwyna holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where her doctoral project focused on the diagnosis and treatment of multiple myeloma in primary care settings. Her scholarly work includes significant investigations into racial disparities in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple myeloma among African Americans. This research was further recognized with a fellowship from the American Cancer Society, underlining her dedication to cancer research and patient care.
She is a committed advocate for cancer care equity, demonstrated by her presentations at several symposia and her ongoing efforts to publish her research. Her professional affiliations include the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Oncology Nursing Society, and the North Carolina Nurses Association.
