We are proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of our students who excelled in nursing research and scholarship at the Fall 2024 Nursing Research Symposium. This event was hosted by the Gamma Iota Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

First Place Award

Alisha Patel, Ashleigh Elvir, and Rachel Jarrell of the DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program

  • Project Title: Perioperative care practices and outcomes of patients taking long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists
  • Project Advisors: Dr. Kelly Powers and Dr. Lorraine Schoen

Second Place Award

Sydney Foley, GG McClamrock, Meredith Strickland, and Logan Watts of the Advanced Clinical Nursing MSN Program 

  • Project Title: Impact of Primary Care Provider Visits on Hospital Readmissions: An Integrative Review
  • Project Advisor: Dr. Christopher Smith

Third Place Award

Casey Raye Wallin, Rachael Brinning, and Precious Woodward of the DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program

  • Project Title: An evaluation of perioperative care for the obstructive sleep apnea patient
  • Project Advisors: Dr. Kelly Powers and Dr. Danielle Brown
