School of Nursing Faculty Awarded Sigma Theta Tau International Grant for Human Trafficking Simulation Research

UNC Charlotte’s School of Nursing faculty members Kelly Powers, PhD, RN, CNE, FNAP, Katherine Shue-McGuffin, DNP, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, and Kathleen S. Jordan, DNP, MS, FNP-BC, ENP-C, SANE-P, FAEN, FAANP, have been awarded a Sigma Theta Tau International Small Grant to support their research in interprofessional education (IPE).

Their proposal, “Innovations in Training: Developing SIM-IPE for Future Healthcare Professionals to Address Human Trafficking,” was one of only ten selected for funding. This project aims to pilot test a human trafficking simulation designed for graduate nursing and social work students, enhancing their preparedness to identify and support individuals affected by human trafficking.
