Why you should become a member of acrs

Membership in the Academy for Clinical Research and Scholarship (ACRS) offers an opportunity to engage with a vibrant, interdisciplinary community committed to advancing nursing research, scholarship, and clinical innovation. Whether you’re focused on knowledge generation, evidence translation, or collaborative practice, ACRS provides the support, resources, and connections to help you grow and make an impact.

Types of Membership

Core Membership

Persons holding full-time, part-time, or temporary appointments within the School of Nursing. Along with the ACRS Director(s), the Core Faculty holds primary responsibility for maintaining the mission and vision of the UNC Charlotte ACRS. Core Members are expected to attend all ACRS meetings and to actively participate in ongoing initiatives. Core Faculty are responsible for:

  1. Participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of ACRS’s strategic plan;
  2. Attending ACRS meetings to advance the mission and vision of ACRS and collaborate with other ACRS Core Faculty;
  3. Leading initiatives (webinars, workshops, etc.) to promote nursing research and scholarship within the School of Nursing, College, University, and community;
  4. Representing the ACRS’s interest in venues internal and external to UNC Charlotte;
  5. Contributing to literature and/or publishing and presenting research and scholarship in nursing; and
  6. Attempts to secure internal and external funding related to nursing research, scholarship, and nursing practice.
Affiliate Membership

Persons holding full-time, part-time, or temporary appointments within the School of Nursing or other UNC Charlotte Colleges, Schools, or academic units.

  1. Contributing to literature and/or publishing and presenting research and scholarship in nursing or any field that contributes to the mission of the ACRS;
  2. Collaborate with Core Faculty to secure internal and external funding related to nursing research, scholarship, and practice.
Student Membership

Any undergraduate or graduate student interested in nursing research, scholarship, and practice.

External Collaborators/Community Partner Membership

Persons at academic universities or institutions outside of UNC Charlotte. Community partnerships enhance research and innovation to address evolving health needs and complexities of clinical practice.

Benefits of Membership

  1. Participation in research and scholarship related to nursing research, scholarship, and practice.
  2. Mentoring from experienced researchers and scholars in various phases of project development and management.
  3.  Guidance, advice, and consultation in organization and coordination of interdisciplinary teams for research and scholarship.
  4. Dedicated staff to support the submission of grant applications, coordinate research projects, and periodically report to project sponsors.
  5. Availability of ACRS Core Members for consultative support for projects on a case-by- case basis.
  6. Opportunities for pilot research funding for Core Faculty.
