Three School of Nursing Faculty Awarded CHHS Research Enhancement Funds for Fall 2025

The UNC Charlotte School of Nursing is proud to announce that three of our faculty members have been awarded College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) Research Enhancement Funds for Fall 2025. These competitive awards support innovative projects that advance health research and strengthen community impact.

Dr. Katie Shue-McGuffin and Dr. Kelly Powers:

Project: Innovations in Training: Sim-IPE for Healthcare Professionals to Address Human Trafficking

his project leverages simulation-based interprofessional education (Sim-IPE) to prepare healthcare professionals to recognize and respond to human trafficking. By integrating collaborative training methods, the initiative aims to equip providers with the knowledge and skills needed to address this critical public health issue.

Dr. Jyotsana Parajuli

Project: Development and Validation of a Palliative Care Readiness Tool for Older Adults with Cancer and their Family Caregivers

Dr. Parajuli’s research focuses on creating and validating a tool that measures readiness for palliative care among older adults with cancer and their caregivers. This work has the potential to improve patient-centered care and support families navigating complex treatment decisions.
