Julie Gibbons, PhD, MSN, MPH

Dr. Gibbons has been a nurse since 1997. She received her BSN from Georgetown University, MPH from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, her MSN in Education from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and her PhD from George Washington University. She has specialized in the care of children and their families across the spectrum of healthcare, from school health to critical care. Dr. Gibbons has experience in the School of Nursing at Charlotte as a graduate assistant, as clinical adjunct faculty and as a lecturer. Prior to starting her PhD, Dr. Gibbons was a nursing instructor in the School of Nursing at Queens University of Charlotte from 2017-2021. Most recently Dr. Gibbons was an adjunct clinical instructor for the NURS 3440 course during the 2024-2025 academic year. 

Research interests include social determinants of health, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), trauma informed care, school health, and school nurses’ well-being.
