Suzanne Frisbee PhD, RN

Suzanne Frisbee, PhD, RN is a nurse scientist and Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at UNC Charlotte. Dr. Frisbee received her PhD in Nursing from Duke University School of Nursing, where she also received a master’s certificate in Nurse Education and her ABSN. Prior to joining UNC Charlotte, Dr. Frisbee completed a postdoctoral fellowship in health communication at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Drawing on over 10 years of clinical nursing experience and training in neuroscience, including basic science research, Dr. Frisbee’s research focuses on nicotine and tobacco use among adolescents and young adults. Her work examines how psychological, social, and environmental factors—including stress, mental health, product exposure, and perceptions of risk—shape health-related behaviors. She applies behavioral science and health communication approaches to develop person-centered strategies to prevent initiation, support cessation, and improve population health.
