School of Nursing Alumni Council

UNC Charlotte’s School of Nursing Alumni Council encourages alumni participation within the University to strengthen the community of future nurse leaders. The council meets quarterly, holds two events per year, and recognizes graduates with a Distinguished Alumni Award.


Chosen by the School of Nursing Alumni Council, the Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to a UNC Charlotte nursing graduatein practice/clinical excellence, education, administration, research, or professional writing for one of the following reasons:

  • Outstanding service to the School of Nursing
  • Recognition of exceptional achievement
  • State/national/international leadership

Nominations for the 2025 School of Nursing Distinguished Alumni Awards are now open!

Criteria suggested by the committee include:

  • Candidates should have a history of involvement with UNC Charlotte, the School of Nursing, and/or the Alumni Association. We are seeking persons who have made significant impacts on the community and the nursing profession.
  • Must be present to accept the award.
  • Nominations are held in consideration for three (3) consecutive years.
