School of Nursing Alumni Chapter Distinguished Alumni Award

The School of Nursing Alumni Chapter (SONAC) of the UNC Charlotte Alumni Association is accepting nominations for its ninth SONAC Distinguished Alumni Award to be presented during the School of Nursing Reunion/Distinguished Nursing Leadership Conference.  Please nominate that colleague or friend who has meant so much to the profession and to the School of Nursing at UNC Charlotte. A member of the awards committee may contact you for further information.

The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to a UNC Charlotte nursing graduate for outstanding service to the School of Nursing, or for recognition of exceptional achievement, or state/national/international leadership, in one or more of the following areas of nursing: practice/clinical excellence, education, administration, research, or professional writing.

Nominations will be accepted through January 1, 2024. 

Please Submit:

  • Nomination using the webform below
  • The nominee’s current curriculum vitae or resume
  • A picture of the nominee
  • Optional: Letters of nomination describing how the nominee meets criteria (supporting letters are accepted, but not required)

Other criteria suggested by the committee include:

  • Candidates should have a history of involvement with UNC Charlotte, the School of Nursing, and/or the Alumni Association. We are seeking persons who have made significant impacts on the community and the nursing profession.
  • Must be present to accept the award at the 2024 Distinguished Nursing Leadership Conference TBD. Please check back.
  • Nominations are held in consideration for five (5) consecutive years.
